Data Point

A Data Point is a column in a dataset that has a Name and a Type.

Data Points can be manipulated dynamically via workflow Actions.

Data Type

Each Data Point has a Type.

The Type of a Data Point can be cast or converted dynamically within a workflow.

Add Data Points

Required Parameters:

  • Working Data
  • Data Point Name
  • Data Point Type

Optional Parameters:

  • Default Value

Description:

The Add Data Points action creates a new Data Point within a Working Data collection.

How to Add a Data Point
Step Description

Select the Working Data collection you wish to add a new Data Point to.

Enter a Name for the new Data Point.

Select a Data Point Type:

  • Text - String
  • Numeric - Decimal
  • Date - DateTime
  • Boolean - Boolean

Input a Default Value. (optional)

Click OK.

Remove Data Points

  • Working Data
  • Data Point Name (at least 1)

Description:

The Remove Data Points action removes one or more Data Points from a Working Data collection.

How to Remove a Data Point
Step Description

Select the Working Data collection that contains the Data Point(s) you wish to remove.

Check the Data Point(s) you wish to remove.

Checking Select All will check all Data Points contained within the Working Data collection.

Click the Add arrow to push the Data Point(s) to the right side.

Click OK.

Remove Blank Values

Required Parameters:

  • Working Data
  • Data Point Name (at least 1)

Description:

The Remove Blank Values action removes rows that contain a blank value in selected Data Points from a Working Data collection.

How to Remove Blank Values
Step Description

Select the Working Data collection that contains the Data Point(s) you wish to remove blank values from.

Add the Data Point(s) you wish to remove blank values from by selecting the Data Point and clicking the green (+).

Checking All selected data points must be blank or null will only remove rows where all selected Data Points are blank or null.

Click OK.

Replace Values

  • Working Data
  • Data Point

Optional Parameters:

  • Replace With

Description:

The Replace Values action replaces each value in the targeted Data Point with a specified input or null.

How to Replace Values in a Data Point
Step Description

Select the Working Data collection that contains the targeted Data Point.

Select the targeted Data Point.

Input a new value or leave Replace With blank for a null value.

Click OK.

Rename Data Points

Required Parameters:

  • Working Data
  • Data Point
  • New Data Point Name

Optional Parameters:

  • Remove Spaces

Description:

The Rename Data Points action renames one or more Data Points within a Working Data collection.

How to Rename a Data Point
Step Description

Select the Working Data collection that contains the targeted Data Point(s).

Select the Data Point you wish to rename.

Enter the New Data Point Name.

Check Remove Spaces if you wish to remove all spaces contained in the Data Point. (optional)

For example, "Sample Name " would be renamed to "SampleName".

Click the green (+) to add the renamed Data Point to the action.

Click OK.

Copy Data Points

  • Working Data
  • Copy from Data Point
  • to New Datapoint OR Replace Datapoint

Optional Parameters:

  • Replace Only If Blank

Description:

The Copy Data Points action copies Data Point values from one Data Point to either a new, or existing, Data Point.

Optionally, the user can configure the action to only copy values to an existing Data Point when the value in the existing Data Point is blank.

How to Copy a Data Point
Step Description

Select the Working Data collection that contains the targeted Data Points.

Select the Copy from Data Point.

Name a new Data Point that will contain the copied values.

OR

Check or Replace Datapoint and select an existing Data Point to copy and replace the values into.

Check Replace Only If Blank to only copy a value into an existing Data Point when the value in the existing Data Point is blank. (optional)

Click OK.

Change Data Type

  • Working Data
  • Data Point
  • New Type

Description:

The Change Data Type action converts the Type of a Data Point.

How to Change the Type of a Data Point
Step Description

Select the Working Data collection that contains the targeted Data Point(s).

Select the targeted Data Point.

Select the new New Type.

Click the green (+) to add the converted Data Point to the action.

Click OK.

Index

Required Parameters:

  • Target Collection
  • Function Type
  • Index Data Point Name

Description:

The Index action creates a numeric OR universally unique (GUID) index Data Point in a targeted Working Data collection.

How to Index a Data Collection
Step Description

1

Select the Working Data collection you wish to index.

Set Function Type to:

- Numeric

or

- Guid

Enter a Name for the new Index Data Point.

Click OK.
